The wedding consultant must be a highly creative person. They need to show that they are creative, this trait is a must. The couple will solely and completely depend that you know what you are doing; to proof this keep a portfolio available of all your work to show when trying to impress your clients and this will proof that yes you have all the artistic capabilities to do a great wedding.

Be a self motivated person, the couple will depend on you to do all that is needed without them calling you to check that you are doing your job. When everyone is having a weekend off you might be working because that is what it takes to finish the job and you do not have the luxury of a day off until after the wedding.

You need to be the most upbeat person in the group. There will be moments that it seems that nothing is going right and you are almost certain that the wedding is coming out to be your worst one. No one needs to hear anything negative and you will put up a front of confidence and transmit that everything will turn out alright.

Then comes that part that you have to be a very strong will person and make others complete their jobs and make sure that they are doing it to your specifications; but yet as courteous as possible. Then, in the middle of all the above you have the couple to contend with their personal issues and not let them see that you are not ready for their sob stories or lack of confidence or insecurities that they might bring up because your job is to reassure them that their wedding will be very beautiful and everything is going to turn up great.

Everyday you have to walk, talk and look the part of a wedding planner consultant. You never know when you will see your clients or meet new clients when you are out and about doing your personal agenda.

To walk the part is to have good posture when walking or standing; conveys confidence. Know your business when talking to your client; be trained formally or go to work for others to learn how to do the business. A client will know when a wedding consultant is not experience because you will not be the only one they are going to interview for the job; this way they can filter out the no experience ones.

Dress the part, you will be judge by your creative appearance, so be ready all the time with clean well planned outfits. No client wants to be stuck with a sloppy dresser. Do not only dress well the first day of your interview with the client and the rest of the time dress like you did not even put a thought into your appearance.

When meeting with a couple always put your best face on; no matter what you really feel. You have to show that you know your business inside out; take notes of everything the couple tells you their desires are and that way when things are not working out you can come back to your notes and refresh your memory. Do not ever make the couple wait for you at your appointment with them; be there always ahead of time, that way you can familiarize yourself with the place.
